Overview

what you can expect when visiting each temple:

Edfu Temple:

Located in the city of Edfu, the Temple of Horus (also known as the Edfu Temple) is one of the best-preserved ancient Egyptian temples in the country. The temple was built during the Ptolemaic era (305 BC to 30 BC) and is dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus.

When visiting Edfu Temple, you’ll see the impressive entrance pylons, the hypostyle hall with its towering columns, and the sanctuary where the statue of Horus was kept. The temple is covered in intricate reliefs that depict the myths and legends of Horus, as well as scenes from daily life in ancient Egypt. One of the most impressive features of the temple is the ceiling of the hypostyle hall, which is decorated with astronomical scenes and zodiac signs.

Kom Ombo Temple:

Located in the town of Kom Ombo, the Temple of Kom Ombo is unique because it is dedicated to two gods: the crocodile-headed Sobek and the falcon-headed Horus. The temple was built during the Ptolemaic era and later expanded by the Romans.

When visiting Kom Ombo Temple, you’ll see the double entrance pylons, the hypostyle hall, and the sanctuary with its two sanctuaries for Sobek and Horus. The temple is also known for its well-preserved reliefs and inscriptions that depict scenes from ancient Egyptian religion and daily life. One of the most famous features of the temple is the Nilometer, which was used to measure the height of the Nile River during floods.
